Genesis 39

So Joseph goes from being the favored son of his father Israel to being sold into slavery and then put into prison. Doesn’t sound like a great life to me. What is crazy to see in all of this is that God has a plan for Joseph and he is putting him in the right place at the right time.

In every place that Joseph ends up, he does so well and works so hard that he is looked upon with favor. He gets put in charge of Potiphar’s house and the warden of the jail doesn’t worry about the things that Joseph is in charge of. God allows him to prosper.

Joseph also shows that he is a man of integrity when he resists the advances of Potiphar’s wife. I am sure that she was a very beautiful woman, and to say no to her would be extremely difficult. But Joseph always resisted her until he makes the mistake of being the only one in the house with her. This was not smart. Also, leaving his cloak behind when he ran away from her was also not smart. For what it’s worth, he gets thrown in prison. The Bible doesn’t tell us how Joseph felt about being thrown in prison or if he protested. The fact of the matter is, that is where he is sent. And this is where the story is about to get good!

Joseph is just a great example about trusting the Lord in your circumstance. Life was tough for Joseph. It seems like he always got a raw deal. But Joseph always trusted In God, and God used him in a major way!
